Trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee

Hai, Sorry or not updating, After the thanksgiving break, i'm totally busy with assignments that I was suppose to do during the break... OOh I never learn.
But i had a great trip to Chattanooga. We wnet to the Lookout Mountain, Tenessee Aquarium, The creative museum, The Rock City and we also ride the incline railway from the top to the bottom.
It was totally awesome.
Me and the kids got a first time experience of being underground about 1,120 feet beneath the mountain surface. Ruby Falls was found by a John Lamber who found a way in the mountain and named the underground waterfall after his wife, Ruby. As you proceed through the cave you will enjoy the many geological wonders located throughout the cave. Some look like drappery, elephants foot and many more. Some part of the is smooth die to lime stone build up. I think it is best that I just post pictures. When you are in the caves, you can feel the greatness of Allah, and how you will be speechless by the beauty inside the caves. I enjoyed Ruby Fall the most.
Next is the Rock city. Here you can follow the Enchanted trail, where you can see lots of enchanted things. Like being in a fairy tail. Then theres the swaying bridge, the lover's leap, the mother goose garden or something like that. At the top of the rock city, you can have a view of 7 states. Is really, really awesome.

daylight saving

1st November is the end of daylight saving. Still can't get use to it. We have to move our clocks back for 1 hour. Now our SUbuh is at 5.10am, zuhur is at 11.40am, Asar at 2.30 pm, Maghrib 4.58pm and Isyak at 7.30pm. Now is at 6.42 am and the sun already rises high. The best part is , by the time I want to go for my 6 pm class, it is already dark...

Trick or Treat !!!

Yesterday as Halloween and the children are so excited to go for trick or treat. I've bought a large bowl of candies forthe kids. It was kind of fun.
My 2 youngest daughters as a Monster Bride and a Fairy. Wish I could be kids again.

Went to the Garden of the Gods at Shawnee National Park, Harrisburg, Illinois.
It was spectacular. I never do hiking but my first time was really rewarding. Why didn't I do it before. Garden of the Gods(GOG) is one of the attraction. I was surprise that my daughters could climb up the stones. Funuy thing here, even the 'neneks' & the 'atuks' go for the hike. The trail is not that challenging but you still have to climb up the stones. There's another GOG in Colorado. Well Azah, you can eat your heart out looking at the pictures.

Well, Its Fall now. All the leaves turn from green, red , orange and yellow. It is really beautiful. Feels like the movie 'Autumn in my Heart'.Have been here for nearly 3 month. I'm still surviving day by day. Now I learn to relax and just get through the week. Tomorrow is Sunday, and we are going for a picnic!!!.Now I understand why those Mat Sallehs are so hard up for sunshine. We are going for a picnic as when the weather gets colder, It will be too cold to go outside. Not that it is not cold now. Today the weather is between 15 - 5 degrees. I went to a few yardsales today and drop by the fresh market(sort of like pasar tani). The apples from the here is fresh from the farm. Really nice & juicy.

The Last Fast

Today is the last day of Ramadhan. While people should be busy doing the cooking and everything else, I locked myself in my room since morning to do my assignment. The best part is it doesn't work. Come end of the day, my assignment is as it was before. My heart is already in the Eid mood. 2 assignments due Monday, what a torture. Our friends will be coming after maghrib for Takbir in my house, and my poor husband is alone in the kitchen doing the cooking. But I plan to cook 'sambal goreng' and pumkin pie late tonight. What a combination for a raya feast.
To all of you Happy Eid Mubarak from all of us here.......sob..sob...

Mingle Party

Today , I was cordially invited for a 'sushi & beer party'. I was obliged to go as its an invitation for all the PhD students, faculty members. Luckily I have an indonesian friend who is a 2nd year student. Imagine , going to a party( at the house of the program chair- which i fall in love with) and we cannot touch any food. Oops, I fell in love with his house, not him, mind you( his old anyway like in the michael douglas era, no worries there).

Actually, I was tring to make up excuses for not coming to the party but luckily I went cos, I got to meet all the new students. For Management, They only took 4 PhD students this year. Imagine that!!

Instead of studying today, I took the girls to the public library. It was awesome. You can borrow unlimited books. Any the collection of storybooks for us was awesome(i borrowed 3 books) don't know when I can read it.

For your Info, The Library in SIU is one of the biggest library in the US. They have loads of books. It is a 5 storey complex and only books for the last 5 years are kept here. The balance are in another location where you can request for them at any time. The libary system is so advanced, I hope that by the time I returned to Malaysia, the system will be compatible.

Night Ramblings

Now is 12.20am in Illinois(in malaysia will be 1.20 pm), me all by myself trying to do my book review which is due tomorrow. As usual, I'm still doing it last minutes, which I have to stop as the all other assignment is piling in on me, when will I learn. At this point I would like to share a song by Miley Cyrus or better known as Hannah Montana which reflect how/What I'm feeling right now. Hope you guys enjoy. Salam from Illinois

Salam to friends, countrymen and most of all the the cronys. I Awould like to appologise fo not updating the blog. Actually, I'm still adjusting here and my body is not giving a positive reaction to the weather in Illinois. A few days after I arrived here I was having cough & cold. When to the doctor and she says I've go allergies!! I never have allergies in Malaysia!!!!!. I am sure you have heard from Delinn of my 4 days ordeal to arrive to Illinois. With the flight delays, missing of connecting flights, the typhoon in Taiwan, the explosion of the airplane tyres, the stay in a 5 star hotels in Taiwan & LA, it was really an experience. I still haven't got over my Jet lag. To top it all, the classess here starts immediately.(no 1 week lapse). Assignment is due next week, I have a book summary(1 whole book) on organization study due on the 11 sept and 2 other assignment during the time... All this get me thinking, what did I put myself into?
Sorry, as Delinn says here is the only place that I could whine all my misery.
The children are enjoying themselves. Do you guys remember I'm the one who like it cold, over here I'm the one who can't stand it. I will be sneezing all the time. So many dugaan. I can only give you 1 or 2 pictures only( nanti I download lagi ya). We are sending our pictures to Utusan Malaysia for the Salam perantau. Watch out for it. Pls buy 1 copy for me also.
